Fall at a Glance!

Fall at a Glance reminds us that it is fall already, even if we are not ready for summer to end!   School has started and the church calendar is filling up.  Here are some of the things you can look forward to this season.

October 12th, the second Sunday of the Month, is Children’s Worship from 9:15 until 9:45.  This service is held on the Second Sunday of every month.

Sunday, October 12 is also Bike/Walk/Carpool to church Sunday with rides and walks held after the service.

October 19th, kicks off our annual Diaper Drive.  It lasts for one week and ends on Oct 26.  Drop off places will be at church and various Highlands locations to be announced.

Saturday, Oct. 25th is PB&J 10:45.

Sunday, October 26th is the annual Trick or Treat St. Fall Festival from 12 until 3 p.m.  The location for our station is, of course, the Highlands United Methodist Church Parking Lot!

Also on Sunday, October 26 from 5pm until 6, is a Reflective Prayer Service in the Taize style.  This service is a service of reverence with a focus on inspirational Scriptures, and silent reflection.  It will also include cantors, professional musicians.

Sunday, November 9th is another Kid’s Service at 9:15.  Reverend Brad is accompanied by a puppet!

Sunday, November 23, celebrates both our Commitment to Highlands United Methodist Church and Thanksgiving as a Church Family.  Services on Sunday will be followed by a potluck lunch.

After lunch on November 23rd we will decorate the church for Advent! Christmas approaches!

Saturday, November 29 from 5 to 7 p.m. is our annual Cookie Baking to make cookies to share with the neighborhood!

Sunday, November 30 from 7 until 7:30 p.m. is the Highlands United Methodist Church Tree Lighting Ceremony.

December 7th is the Christmas Music Worship Service.

December 14th is the Children’s Christmas Pageant with soup lunch following worship.

Previous events:

strong>Sunday, September 21 is work day.  You can wear your paint clothes to church and help refresh the first impression Highlands United Methodist Church makes on newcomers.  This has been expedited because the floors are scheduled to be refinished and we wouldn’t want to splatter after that!

Saturday, September 27 is PB&J day.  PB&J volunteers meet at the church every fourth Saturday at 10:45 to prepare lunches to take to the homeless in and around City Park.

October 4, from 1:00 until 4 p.m., is Fruit Preserving and Pie Making Day.  If you are a novice or an old pro at these activities you are invited to participate in this activity sponsored by the green team.

Sunday, October 5th is the annual green team Potluck luncheon after church services.  This luncheon focuses on sustainable foods and reminds us to be informed consumers when we plan our meals and do our grocery shopping.

Also on Sunday, October 5th from 12 until 2, there will be an offsite “Blessing of the Animals” at Highlands Animal Clinic. Bring your dog, cat, fish, iguana, goat, chicken, llama… and celebrate their life and God’s love for them.
