Stay up to date with all of the latest news from Highlands United Methodist Church, Denver

BikeRacks_3loopWe are excited to be Denver’s first certified Green Church! Join us as we celebrate this continuing commitment and all of creation on April 19, during and following worship. This will be an exciting reflection leading into Earth Day, which comes a few days after. We are so grateful for the help and work that everyone in our Highlands United Methodist Church  Community has done to contribute. Please join us in the celebration of this milestone for our church. In addition to the ribbon cutting, a Potluck Dinner will be held after church services on Sunday, April 19th.  You are encouraged to bike/walk/carpool to work that day as we kick off “Earth Week.” We will have our new bike rack installed by then!

The Green team has worked diligently to help Highlands UMC set the standard for neighborhood churches when it comes to Environmental issues.  With the help of myriad church  members, we have put in new LED lighting,  installed a new dishwasher, and hosted bike and walk to church days.  We have participated in fruit watch to help harvest “leftover” fruits and veggies from neighbor’s gardens and trees.  the Green Church Ribbon Cutting & Potluck is a great way to celebrate our hard work.  These efforts help us to protect our environment and support our neighborhood.  To see other upcoming Green Team events click the new Environmental Efforts page here.
